Foul Odor and Direct Contamination of the Zaramago Creek in San Miguel de Allende

12/30/2022

[translation] SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE, GTO.,- A citizen complaint reported strong contamination of the Zaramago stream and a foul smell of feces in the upper part of the city. Apparently it has already been reported to the authorities, who have not taken any action.

The photos and videos (https://youtu.be/fUw5LN8qZPQ / https://youtu.be/f2qENtmTE9k) show puddles and/or sewers gurgling with wastewater, just behind the "La Luminaria" treatment plant, according to the citizen's report.

The fecal water emanating from the sewer was apparently the result of construction work, but it is not known who was doing the work.

The wastewater is now entering the zaramago creek that crosses the ecological reserve of Charco del ingenio and is already polluting the flora and fauna of the area.
